ACTRIS coordinates and actively contributes to a range of European and international projects that strengthen its scientific, technological, and societal impact.

These projects support the development of new observation technologies, enhance data quality and accessibility, and foster collaboration across research infrastructures and disciplines.

Through these initiatives, ACTRIS plays a key role in advancing atmospheric science, driving innovation in measurement techniques, and supporting evidence-based environmental policy.

The projects also enable ACTRIS to engage with stakeholders beyond the research community—such as policymakers, industry, and civil society—ensuring that its services and knowledge are aligned with current societal and environmental challenges.

	POLARIN (2024-2029) POLARIN is an international network of polar research infrastructures and their services, aiming at addressing the scientific challenges of the polar regions. Read more
	IRISCC (2024-2028) The “Integrated Research Infrastructure Services for Climate Change Risks” scientific and knowledge services to foster cutting-edge research and evidence-based policymaking to improve Europe's resilience to climate change. Read more
	CARGO-ACT (2024-2027) The goal of the EU HORIZON CARGO-ACT project is to deliver a clear roadmap for sustainable global cooperation between key organisations in Europe and in the United States to provide the best possible services for accessing and using information from monitoring climate- and air quality-relevant properties of aerosol, cloud and trace gases in the atmosphere Read more
	ENVRINNOV (2024-2027) Funded under the EU Horizon Europe, the ENVRINNOV project fosters innovation within environmental research infrastructures by developing a centralized platform to enhance technology transfer, industry collaboration, and service uptake. Read more
	ACTRIS NEXT (2026-2030) ACTRIS NEXT improves ACTRIS leadership by advancing interoperability, sustainability, and global integration. It strengthens ACTRIS capacity to meet emerging atmospheric and societal needs. New co‑designed services will be developed to support health, environmental resilience, and the energy transition.
	EOSC Mesh (2026-2029) EOSC Mesh addresses Europe’s major fragmentation issue in accessing, sharing, and reusing research data and services across disciplines and borders.
	SIRENE (2026-2031) The SIRENE Project unites 11 ESFRI landmarks to drive challenge‑based research linking environmental factors to human health. It advances exposome science by providing open access to high‑end infrastructures, integrated services, and harmonised data.
	ATMO-SERV (2026-2030) ATMO‑SERV unites Europe’s atmospheric Research Infrastructures to provide integrated, FAIR and open access to over 90 facilities and 12 digital services.
	ACCESS2ACCESS (2026-2027) ACCESS2ACCESS lays the foundation for a European framework enabling world-class research through open, integrated, and sustainable access to Research Infrastructures (RIs).
	ENES-RISe (2026-2029) ENES-RISe delivers open and reliable Earth system model projections to support climate research and policy. It provides integrated services for modelling, data, and evaluation, making complex climate information easier to access and use.
	RenAI (2026-2029) RenAI will drive a new paradigm in the use of Generative AI for science by delivering a suite of domain-specific and cross-domain foundation models, co-created with European research infrastructures and scientific communities.
	SUSTAIN-ICE (2026-2029) The SUSTAIN-ICE project enhances scientific observations in the Arctic while reducing the environmental footprint of research infrastructures and field activities through innovative, sustainable, and digitally enabled solutions.

RI-URBANS (2021-2025)

The “Research Infrastructures Reinforcing Air Quality Monitoring Capacities in European Urban & Industrial AreaS” is a EU Horizon 2020 project that develops and integrates advanced air quality monitoring systems for improving urban air quality.

ATMO-ACCESS (2021-2025)

The EU Horizon 2020 project “Solutions for Sustainable Access to Atmospheric Research Facilities” (ATMO-ACCESS) is the organised response of distributed atmospheric research facilities for developing a pilot for a new model of Integrating Activities.

ACTRIS-IMP (2019-2023)

The ACTRIS Implementation Project was a EU Horizon 2020 Coordination and Support Section (grant agreement No 871115). ACTRIS IMP formed the coordinated European framework having the necessary with the needed tools for achieving these objectives during the four-year duration of the project, also implementing effective risk management and contingency plans to fully embrace all requirements for its successful implementation of ACTRIS.

ENVRI-FAIR (2019-2023)

ENVRI-FAIR aimed at connecting the cluster of environmental research infrastructures (ENVRI) to the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). All participating Research Infrastructures built a set of FAIR data services enhancing the efficiency and productivity of researchers, supportinginnovation, enabling data- and knowledge-based decisions and connecting the ENVRI Cluster to the EOSC.

EUROCHAMP-2020 (2018-2020)

EUROCHAMP-2020 aimed at further integrating the most advanced European atmospheric simulation chambers into a world-class infrastructure for research and innovation. The project coordinated a set of networking activities, aiming at delivering improved chamber operability across the infrastructure, as well as standard protocols for data generation and analysis. Trans-national access was provided at sixteen different chambers and four calibration centres.

ACTRIS PPP (2017-2019)

ACTRIS PPP (Aerosol, Clouds and Trace Gases Research Infrastructure Preparatory Phase Project) was a European Project supported by the European Commission Horizon 2020 Coordination and Support Action (INFRADEV-02-2016)
