Visit to the RADO-Bucharest National Facility during the Romania–European Commission Enhanced Dialogue

On 6 October 2026, as part of the Enhanced Dialogue between Romania and the European Commission on research and innovation, the Măgurele Centre for Atmosphere and Radiation Studies (MARS), part of the RADO-Bucharest National Facility within ACTRIS, hosted a technical visit by a European Commission delegation led by Marc Lemaître, Director-General of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD), together with representatives of the National Research Authority.
The visit provided an opportunity to present the role and capabilities of the RADO-Bucharest National Facility, highlighting its three components: aerosol remote sensing, cloud remote sensing, and aerosol in situ, and their complementary atmospheric observation capabilities. Particular attention was given to the activities of the observatory and its role within CARS.
The technical visit provided the European Commission delegation with first-hand insight into the research infrastructure, scientific expertise and international collaborations developed at RADO-Bucharest, illustrating Romania’s contribution to European research infrastructures and its engagement in collaborative research initiatives.
