IR Intercomparison Campaign
An extended intercomparison campaign of lidar systems will take place between 17 September and 10 October 2026 at MARS (Magurele Centre for Atmosphere and Radiation Studies).
The campaign will bring together 24 participants from seven institutions, including experts and lidar operators from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, the National Research Council - Institute of methodologies for environmental analysis (CNR-IMIOT), the University of Warsaw, Leibniz Institute for Tropospheric Research (TROPOS), and Romanian experts from the Remote Sensing Department of INOE 2000.
The activities will focus on the intercomparison of lidar systems equipped with different versions of IR modules. During the first phase, all participating systems will perform simultaneous measurements, allowing for a direct comparison of their performance.
The second and third phases of the campaign will focus on testing two of the newest IR module versions in lidar systems where these modules are not yet installed. The modules will be transferred between different instruments, and the resulting measurements will be analysed to identify differences and quantify the quality of the signals obtained from all participating systems.
Representatives from both Raymetrics and Licel will also take part in the campaign. They will provide technical support during the exchange and installation of the IR modules, making sure that these procedures are carried out safely and appropriately for all lidar systems involved.
