RI-URBANS Service Tools Presented at WHO: Turning Atmospheric Science into Societal Impact
Published: 29, September, 2025

The EU-funded RI-URBANS project reached an important milestone as its leaders, Tuukka Petäjä and Xavier Querol Carceller, presented the project’s 16 Service Tools at the World Health Organization (WHO).
By offering practical solutions to urban air quality challenges, the RI-URBANS Service Tools empower European cities to design more effective strategies to combat air pollution and improve the health of their citizens.
ACTRIS is proud to be part of RI-URBANS, where research infrastructures play a crucial role in translating scientific excellence into tangible benefits for society. This achievement demonstrates how long-term investment in atmospheric research directly supports better-informed policies, healthier environments, and more sustainable cities across Europe.
