Cloud Remote Sensing Training School 2025
Published: 30, September, 2025

From September 2 to 5, CCRES and CLU organized a training school for the Cloud Remote Sensing community hosted by the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) Meteorological Institute in Munich.
The event was open to all Cloud Remote Sensing National Facilities, including PhD students, researchers, expert scientists and technical personnel. The diversity of participants’ profiles and experiences enabled fruitful sharing of experiences within the community. In total, 42 participants took part in the training school, coming from 11 countries and 18 National Facilities.

Lectures and hands-on sessions covered CCRES services, instrument calibration, quality control, CloudNet products, Cal/Val, scientific applications, retrieval of cloud properties, etc. Presentations from lecturers external to CCRES and CLU were encouraged.
We are very pleased to assess that overall the event has been a success, in that CCRES/CLU received highly positive feedback from the participants, and further collaborations have been instigated. The sessions were suitable and useful for different levels of expertise, from early careers to expert scientists. We want to thank again the LMU personnel who enabled the event to take place, as well as all the presenters and participants for their contribution and enthusiasm!
