ACTRIS-NEXT Project Officially Launched
Published: 15, June, 2026
The ACTRIS-NEXT project officially kicked off with a high-profile meeting in Lille on June 10–11, 2026, marking a significant milestone for atmospheric science in Europe. Led by a consortium of 44 partners, this ambitious initiative aims to strengthen and expand the capabilities of ACTRIS.
The ACTRIS-NEXT project represents a strategic evolution for ACTRIS, with key objectives:
1. Enhancing Europe’s global leadership in atmospheric science by improving interoperability and expanding its network of partners.
2. Addressing societal challenges such as human health, environmental resilience, and renewable energy production, through the co-design of innovative services with end-users.
3. Ensuring long-term sustainability and operational agility to adapt to emerging needs.
4. Supporting the energy transition by providing robust, science-based solutions for renewable energy development.
ACTRIS-NEXT will help tackle critical challenges by delivering actionable insights for policymakers, researchers, and industries.
The kick-off meeting brought together around 80 participants onsite and online, fostering dynamic exchanges and collaboration. The meeting was important to present the project structured around eight work packages and explorehow they are interconnected, ensuring that every component ties into the broader project goals.
The same week, Lille also hosted the 7th ACTRIS ERIC General Assembly and a RICOM meeting. We warmly thank Université de Lille, IMT Nord Europe, and the ACTRIS-FR office for their support in organizing these events.
