ACTRIS at the International Aerosol Conference 2026

ACTRIS presence at the International Aerosol Conference (IAC) 2026 was marked not only by its participation in the conference, but also by several important contributions to the programme and exhibition. These included the ACTRIS exhibition booth, a talk by ACTRIS Director General Eija Juurola in session B9: Aerosol Instrumentation and Calibration - Physical Property , and the organisation of session H8.

The ACTRIS exhibition booth provided an opportunity for IAC participants to learn more about ACTRIS, its contributions to society and policy, its services, and its role as a European Research Infrastructure. We would like to thank everyone who visited the booth and showed interest in ACTRIS. We look forward to developing future collaborations.
Session H8: From observations to solutions: research infrastructures advancing aerosol science.
ACTRIS organised session H8, From observations to solutions: research infrastructures advancing aerosol science. The session, chaired by Wei Nie from Nanjing University, China, and Jean-Eudes Petit from the Laboratory for Climate and Environmental Sciences, France, presented case studies and examples demonstrating how harmonised standards, open access, and cross-sector collaboration accelerate progress in aerosol research.

Three talks represented ACTRIS during the session. Konstantinos Elefthariadis (NCSR Demokritos) gave an overview of the Greek national effort. Alfred Wiedensohler (TROPOS) presented the ACTRIS Centre for Aerosol In Situ, while Mikhail Paramonov presented the CARGO-ACT project, showcasing an example of how ACTRIS is working towards establishing solid collaboration with the United States.
The session also featured contributions from international partners. Elizabeth W. Gilloon (California Institute of Technology) presented the efforts combining laboratory and field measurements with advanced mass spectrometry and described the Atmospheric Science and Chemistry mEasurement Network (ASCENT), a high-resolution, long-term aerosol measurement network. Wei Nie (Nanjing University) presented the Station for Observing Regional Processes of the Earth System (SORPES) in Nanjing, China. The flagship research station serves as a high-performance, long-term observatory for understanding complex atmospheric processes.
Finally, two representatives from the private sector contributed to the session. Aki Pajunoja (ENVEA Group) presented the lessons learnt from the Net4cities network, while Asta Gregoric (Aerosol Magee Scientific) discussed how to advance carbonaceous aerosol measurements and interpretation through research infrastructure-based validation of instruments AE36s and TCA09 instruments.
The IAC provided an excellent opportunity to showcase ACTRIS international and national relevance and to establish potential future collaborations that can contribute to advancing atmospheric science.
