National Facilities

At present no site has been granted the ACTRIS label (the process will commence soon). However, currently 10 National Facilities operating FTIR (Fourier-Transform Infrared), UVVIS (UV_visible) spectrometers or Ozone Dial (Differential Absorption) LIDARS have been set to join. These are:

  1. Atmospheric Sciences Observatory at Reunion (OPAR)
  2. High Altitude Research Station Jungfraujoch (JFJ), Swiss
  3. Villum Research Station, Denmark
  4. Garmisch-Partenkirchen/Zugspitze, Germany
  5. Bremen, Germany
  6. Ny-Ålesund, Spitsbergen
  7. Paramaribo, Surinam
  8. PANGEA, Greece
  9. CIAO, Italy
  10. Cabauw Experimental Site for Atmospheric Research (Cabauw)

What the TC offers

CREGARS offers a wide variety of services to its National Facilities and users. For the ACTRIS National Facilities some aspects such as regular calibration, central processing and abiding by the standard operating procedures are mandatory.

Training

The topical center provides training sessions in the form of workshops and on-line courses

Instrument Calibration

CREGARS provides calibration either via providing calibrated gas cells, in lab instrument calibration, traveling standards and intercomparison campaigns, depending on the instrument involved.

Standard Operating Procedures

To ensure strict quality adherence, CREGARS provides detailed standard operating procedures for all retrieved species. CREGARS will also make sure that these SOP are in line with the state-of-the-art guidelines within international networks such as NDACC and Pandonia

Central Processing

For FTIR and UVVIS, all retrievals will occur via a central retrieval and data quality control system to avoid any discrepancy between National facilities in the retrieval process.

Consultancy

This is available whether for setting up a completely new instrument or making improvements in an existing set-up.

Tasks for operational support

This includes requests for consultation, audits and NF labeling.
