ACTRIS-D has been marked to be part of the National Roadmap for Research Infrastructures by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
In a three-stage process, the research infrastructure concept with a volume of more than 80 million Euro had been scientifically and economically evaluated and its relevance for society examined. With the selection of ACTRIS-D for the National Roadmap, the Federal Government is expressing its willingness to support the implementation of the German ACTRIS facilities and to strengthen the fundamental role of Germany in setting up ACTRIS as a European research infrastructure.
ACTRIS-D brings together major players in German atmospheric research - including universities, non-university research institutions and public authorities - and is coordinated by the Leibniz Institute for Tropospheric Research (TROPOS) in Leipzig.
