National Facilities

In February 2025, the ACTRIS Sweden community submitted a proposal to the Swedish Research Council to secure funding for the next phase of its national research infrastructure, covering the period from 2027 to 2030.
The current funding period, which runs until December 2026, focuses on implementing the Swedish ACTRIS infrastructure. Significant investments have been made in procuring state-of-the-art equipment and establishing new ACTRIS Aerosol In Situ (AIS) and Reactive Trace Gases In Situ (RTGIS) stations, as well as mobile platforms across Sweden. The proposed continuation will transition into an operational phase, ensuring the infrastructure meets ACTRIS standards while providing high-quality support to users.
ACTRIS Sweden is also strengthening collaboration with ICOS Sweden and SITES—Sweden’s equivalent of eLTER—leveraging synergies for scientific, logistical, financial, and administrative benefits. Additionally, all five ACTRIS Sweden stations are co-located with ICOS Sweden, with an international extension through ICOS Norway at the Zeppelin Observatory in Svalbard.
This next phase will be crucial in advancing atmospheric research in Sweden and fostering collaboration within the European research infrastructure landscape.
